This is Physical Therapy
Built For Runners.
Most physical therapy is not designed for runners. Athletes are told to stop running, rest, and ease back in without a clear understanding of their training, goals, or the demands of the sport.
At Cadence, we take a different approach. We specialize in working with runners, which means understanding training load, identifying the true cause of injury, and building a plan that allows you to keep progressing without constantly being set back.

What Our Customers Say
Frequently Asked Questions
Not necessarily. A physician's advice to stop running is almost always about protecting you from further damage in the short term — which is valid. But "stop running" is not a treatment plan. At Cadence, we work closely with your medical team when appropriate, and we specialize in finding the most running your body can safely tolerate at every stage of recovery. In most cases that's more than zero.
That's the most common thing we hear. And it's a fair concern.
General physical therapy is not designed for runners. It's designed for the general population,
and
the protocols, the exercise selection, and the understanding of training demands reflect that.
Runner-specific PT is a different discipline entirely. At Cadence, your provider understands
your
sport at a clinical level — and that changes everything about how your injury is assessed and
treated.
If PT didn't work before, it's worth asking whether the provider understood running well enough
to
address the actual cause.
We hear this more than any other question — and we want to answer it honestly.
Chronic injuries are what we see most. By the time most athletes come to us, they've already
tried rest, a different shoe, stretching routines, and in many cases another physical therapist.
They're frustrated, undertrained, and starting to wonder if this is just what their body does
now.
It's not.
The reason those things didn't stick is that none of them were designed by someone who
understands both the clinical and athletic sides of the equation. A Doctor of Physical Therapy
who is also a competitive runner sees your injury differently — not just as a tissue problem,
but as a training problem with a clinical solution. A thorough evaluation tells us exactly
what's driving the injury, even when it's been present for months or years. Chronic doesn't mean
permanent. It means the right approach hasn't been applied yet.
We've helped runners come back from injuries they were told were career-ending. We don't make
promises about timelines — every body is different. But we can promise that you will leave your
first appointment with a clear understanding of what's actually wrong and a plan to fix it. No
runaround. No guessing. Just answers.
If you've tried everything else, come try this.
Cadence PT is a cash-based practice. We do not bill insurance directly. What we do provide is a
superbill upon request — a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance provider for
potential
out-of-network reimbursement. If you have out-of-network benefits, you may be reimbursed for a
meaningful portion of your visit cost.
We also accept HSA and FSA cards.
One hour of one-on-one care with a physical therapist who specializes in runners. That's what
every
session at Cadence looks like. We'll let that speak for itself.
No. New Jersey allows direct access, so you can come straight to us without a physician referral. If you're searching for a “running injury PT near me” and want to skip the extra doctor's visit, you can book directly with our team at Cadence.
